About Yangshuo
The surrounding countryside is Yangshuo's greatest treasure: cycling through paddy fields between Moon Hill and the Dragon Bridge, kayaking on the calm Yulong River beneath limestone cliffs, and rock climbing on crags that tower above the town. The Impression Liu Sanjie open-air theater show uses moonlit karst mountains and river as its backdrop in a spectacular Zhang Yimou-directed production. The Ten Lis Gallery (Shili Gallery) riverside cycling route is regarded as one of China's most beautiful pastoral rides.

Climate & Best Time to Visit
Subtropical monsoon climate. Warm humid summers (avg 28°C in July), mild winters (avg 8°C in January). Rainfall peaks April–July. Autumn is the driest and clearest season. The karst landscape shimmers beautifully in all seasons.
Getting There
From Guilin: 60 km by bus (1–1.5 hrs) or by Li River cruise (4–5 hrs, highly recommended). Direct buses from Guilin bus station throughout the day. From Guilin airport: taxi to Guilin bus station then onward bus. Li River cruise arrives at Yangshuo pier.

The Li River cruise from Guilin to Yangshuo is a must-do — one of China's top travel experiences
Electric bicycles for hire are the best way to explore the countryside lanes and villages
Rock climbing is a Yangshuo specialty — full-day instruction courses available for complete beginners
West Street is tourist-oriented; venture off it to local side streets for better food at lower prices
Yulong River is calmer and more scenic than the Li River for kayaking — rent independently for more flexibility
