Guilin's icon — a karst hill shaped perfectly like an elephant drinking from the river
Elephant Trunk Hill (Xiangbi Shan) is Guilin's most recognizable landmark — a naturally formed karst hill at the confluence of the Li River and Peach Blossom River whose profile unmistakably resembles an elephant drinking water. The "trunk" arch is the Water Moon Cave, where moonlight creates a perfect reflection of the moon in the river, and the hill serves as the city's official symbol.
