À propos de Dali

The walled Old Town of Dali is a delight of cobblestone streets, white-washed Bai-style architecture, and a thriving arts scene built around cafés and guesthouses in courtyard homes. The Three Pagodas — standing sentinel since the Tang Dynasty — are the city's defining landmark. A cycling circuit around Erhai Lake passes through waterside Bai villages, bird sanctuaries, and fish markets. Nearby Cangshan Mountain offers hiking trails into alpine meadows and rhododendron forests above 4,000 metres.

Climate & Best Time to Visit

Mild highland subtropical climate. Dali is one of China's most comfortable year-round destinations — winters mild (avg 8°C), summers refreshingly cool (avg 21°C). The Cangshan range shields the city from temperature extremes. Rainfall peaks July–August.

Comment s'y rendre

Dali Zhoucheng Airport (DLU) is 13 km from Old Town with connections to Kunming (45 min) and Chengdu. High-speed train to Dali North Station then shuttle to Old Town — from Kunming ~3 hrs, from Lijiang ~1.5 hrs. Road from Kunming is 4–5 hours by expressway.

Conseils pratiques

Xizhou village 18 km north is more authentic than the Old Town tourist area

Try rubing (Yunnan goat cheese) grilled at street stalls — a Dali specialty

Erhai Lake boat trips offer beautiful views of the Three Pagodas from the water
