China's premier Alpine ski destination — 11 runs on a 1,374 m summit in the Manchurian mountains
Yabuli Ski Resort is China's most prestigious Alpine skiing destination, spread across the slopes of Changbai Mountain's outlying Mao Er Shan (Hat Mountain) range at elevations between 670 and 1,374 metres in Heilongjiang province. The resort hosted the 1996 Asian Winter Games and has served as the national alpine ski training base since 1983. Eleven ski runs of varying difficulty descend through dense conifer forest, serviced by gondola, chairlifts, and surface lifts. The resort operates three separate zones — Feng Che Shan, Chang Bai Shan, and Feng Wang Dian — with different ability levels and accommodation styles. Snow conditions are generally excellent from December through March, with powder snowfalls and guaranteed cold (-15°C to -25°C typical mid-winter) keeping the snow dry and light. Cross-country skiing, snowmobile tours, and ice skating are also available. The resort has undergone significant international-standard development in preparation for China's growing ski tourism market post-2022 Winter Olympics. The nearest city, Harbin, is approximately 3 hours by road.
