Ming Tombs

The Ming Tombs complex contains the mausoleums of 13 Ming dynasty emperors in the Tianshou Mountains north of Beijing, with the Dingling underground palace offering a rare chance to descend into the actual burial chambers. The Spirit Way approach road, lined with massive stone animals and human officials, is one of the most atmospheric heritage walks near the capital.
