8,000 life-sized clay warriors guard China's first emperor for eternity
The Museum of Qin Terracotta Warriors and Horses preserves three pits containing over 8,000 life-sized terracotta soldiers, horses, and bronze chariots — each figure sculpted with unique individual features — created to guard Emperor Qin Shihuang's tomb. Discovered by farmers in 1974, Pit 1 is a vast hangar the size of three football fields and one of the world's most spectacular archaeological exhibitions.
