The wild, unrestored Great Wall for serious hikers and photographers
Jiankou (Arrow Nock) is one of the most dramatic unrestored sections of the Great Wall, built on a steep mountain ridge in Huairou County where crumbling battlements reclaimed by oak trees and wild grasses have made it a pilgrimage site for photographers. The 5-km trail requires reasonable fitness and rewards with some of the most atmospheric views of any Great Wall section.
