長白山森林

The Changbaishan Forest area around Yabuli encompasses expanses of the Greater Khingan Mountain coniferous and mixed forest zone — one of the most ecologically significant temperate forest biomes in Northeast Asia. The forest is characterised by towering Korean pine (Pinus koraiensis) mixed with Manchurian fir, Jezo spruce, and stands of birch and oak, home to Siberian tigers, Amur leopards, brown bears, Siberian roe deer, and red-crowned cranes. The Greater Khingan range forms the watershed between the Amur River system to the north and the Pacific-draining rivers to the east. In summer the forest floor is carpeted with wildflowers and edible mushrooms; in autumn the birch and oak canopy turns vivid gold against the dark evergreens. Winter transforms the forest into a snow-laden silence of extraordinary beauty, the conifer boughs bent under the weight of snow, with clear skies and temperatures reaching -40°C at night. Forest walking trails and snowshoe routes extend from the Yabuli resort base into the surrounding wilderness.
